The Barbie Room

Smallest bedroom, painted lilac and with a strip of fetching looking Barbie's running around the centre.

At first this little room seemed innocuous and charming but after 6 months of sleeping in there whilst our bedroom was being overhauled we soon fell under the terrifying and fearsome spell of The Barbie Stare - coal-black, souless eyes, never blinking, ever-vigilant, always staring, always passing judgement...

The Barbie Room at her finest, ie not full of storage boxes as she was for 6 months after we'd moved in or full of laundry as she usually is when we don't have visitors!

From August 2004 to March 2005 we slept in the Barbie Room whilst we decorated our main bedroom. Seven months of those little beady eyes...staring at us...day after day...night after night...

2006 was a good year for DIY - we'd tackled the kitchen, the garden and the garage. Just before I switched from pt to ft work I decided Barbie had to go too! I had 2 days annual leave owing so decided to make a long weekend of it and finally kick Ms B into touch!

The Final Product

We'll be junking the dusty old blinds in favour of new curtains and raiding our boxed-up picture collection to invirgorate the walls.

So there you have it - The Barbie Room transformed from lilac to cream in one weekend or 2 1/2 years depending on your point of view!

Will we ever see the likes of her again?
